SMASH*ing 2014!

At the start of this year I decided against doing a SMASH* Journal for 2014. I was so far behind with my 2013 journal and it all just seemed to get too hard and too much. But then last week I sat down and looked at my journals for 2012 and 2013 and I knew I had to do one.

I'm keeping this journal much simpler than many of my past journals. Firstly I usually spend way too much time on each page and also when I use too many papers and embellishments the book gets so fat and difficult to work with.

I chose the Tasty SMASH* folio to use - I love the quirky pages and colours and with many of my photos being about food it was the perfect choice! I'm including a calendar of our monthly activities, and I am doing 6 pages per month.

On these pages I've showcased stamps from the Kellie Stamps March release the Cozy and Magical stamp sets.
I've also used elements from a Studio Calico Ephemera Pack and Dear Lizzy diecuts.

Currently Me 2014 - Weeks 4-7!

Following on from yesterdays post here is weeks 4-7 of my "Currently Me 2014" journal. Although I'm not a fan of my handwriting I like to include it and make it a feature of this journal. Again I've kept embellishments to a minimum - although I had to include a few doilies on the first 2 pages!

Products I've used include: Kellie Stamps "Proud Moment" wood mount stamp, "Places we'll go and the people we'll see" from the Summer mini stamp set, and "Happy Camper" and "Hello Sun" flair; Stampin' Up! Currently Me 2014 - SMASH* Style!

I don't know about you but I seem to spend all my time scrapbooking and SMASH*ing photos and memories of my family and friends but never myself! So when I saw how Kellie was doing a "Project My Life" I wanted to do something similar - in my own SMASH*ing style.

About a year ago Stampin' Up! released their own version of SMASH* books and I had to buy it all (lol) but 12 months on and I still hadn't used it. So I decided to use this as the basis for my "Currently Me 2014" Journal. The journal is smaller than a SMASH* journal and it has larger rings on the spine - which I actually love!! I'm also using the coordinating papers and stickers -which is great for my "keeping it simple" philosophy for this book

I'm doing a week to a page and on each page I'm filling out one of these fabulous free digi download Currently cards from Kristin at Rukristin. I'm also including a photo of myself!!

So far I've kept up with this - but am behind with the blogging. I will also be keeping my blogging simpler and only having one photo of each page, I'm hoping that this will make it all more achievable for me!

Here are the first 3 weeks of 2014. I'd love to hear from any of you that do something similar :)

Products I've used include: Kellie Stamps "Rate this day" from the Cozy stamp set, "All you need is chocolate" from the My Home stamp set, "out and about" from the I made this stamp set, "January" light wood veneer, and 2014 from the Awesome flair set; Stampin' Up! Epic Day This and That Journal, washi tape, designer series paper, stickers and hexagon punch; Currently card (free digi download) from Kristin at Rukristin.

Some Birthday Cards!

Last month I made some backgrounds for scrapbook pages using mists, stencils and stamps. I loved the look so much I thought I'd make some cards using the same techniques.

For the first 2 cards I used the remaining goodies from my Lilac haze Just Add Paper Kit from D-lish Scraps

For this 1st card I used one of the nested frames (sprayed with purple Dylusions), a flair, lavender resin butterfly, aqua bitty bloom, and a purple cabachon Resin Flower
For the second card I used a chevron button, purple mini metal flower, lavender bitty bow, purple resin flower and aqua bitty bloom.
For the 3rd card I used a large seagreen Old Fashioned Rose, green cabachon Resin Floweran aqua Viola, and a funky heart Wooden button.
For my last card I used one of the nested frames from the Lilac Haze Just Add Paper Kit (sprayed with teal Dylusions), a blue cabachon Resin Flower, a largeseagreen Old Fashioned Rose, , an aqua Violaan aqua bitty bloom, and a funky heart Wooden button.

Hello There!

Today I have another scrapbook page showcasing some of my mixed media skills lol! I wanted some earthy tones to go with the photos from a wildlife park but I also wanted to jazz it up a bit with some fun papers.

I started by spraying my page with some brown, black and blue Dylusions sprays. I didnt really like how it turned out so I put my papers over most of it. I then added a few different stencils with texture paste, then some stencils with inks.
I tore some paper for the top and bottom of the page. If you look closely you will see that it is all from the same piece of paper and also my paper pad was only 6x6 - but I dont think you can really tell.

I layered lots of paper under my photo as well as adding a paper doilie, chevron bag and shipping tag (all staples for me!). I used the Basic Grey "Nook and Pantry" paper pad - a very old one that I found in my stash and I am trying hard to use it all up!
Now it was time to add lots of D-lish Scraps yumminess! I used a cream Forget Me Not, white Daisy, yellow polkadot buttonyellow Crocheted Mini Bloom, a wooden deer button and a yellow resin forget-me-not.
I also added a yellow wooden daisywhite bitty blooms, Freckled Fawn wood chips hearts, arrow, birds, & clouds.

Along the bottom I added Freckled Fawn dew drops silver arrow paperclip, chevron Journal SpotTicket Tab, and stamped the date with my Pebbles roller date stamp.
I had some little chalkboards in my stash so I wrote the title on with a chalkboard pen and I attached with some string from my stash and a mini peg. Then I accented with a wooden asterisk, a yellow Resin cabachon and a pink resin 2-toned daisy.

Grungy Birthday Card!

Last month I made a number of Scrapbook backgrounds using sprays, stencils and stamps. It was so much fun that I also made some cards using similar techniques. I love how this card turned out - I always find it hard to make cards for males!
I've used some Kellie Stamps products on this card: Arrow flair from the Hello Sun Flair set; the "Happy Birthday" stamp from the Birthday stamp set; and the arrow stamp from the You are the best stamp set

Isn't She Lovely!

I've finally had some time to myself to do some Scrapbooking and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! Lately I've seen a few pages being done with white embellishments on black paper - I think it looks stunning!! So I gave it a go myself.

I printed out a black and white photo of my daughters year 7 graduation to keep with my black and white only colour scheme.
I wanted to add some large white paint splats so I thought about my photo placement and did these first. I used some white paint I had in a squeeze bottle with a sponge dauber on the top. I made sure there was plenty of paint on the dauber and spritzed it with water, then splat really hard on to my page. I will warn you that this is a messy business and although I had a 3 sided cardboard box that I do my misting in I really needed a 4 sided one as paint went all over me and behind me on the wall and floor!! Then I also added some little spats of white Dylusions from the spray bottle.
Once this had all dried I added my embellishments - all from D-lish Scraps. After I attached my photo I added some silver star mini sequins and clear sequins. I like to scatter the sequins across the page (to give a random look) and dot glue next to them, then I use a Clever Sequin Pick-up Pencil to place the sequins on the glue - easy.
I also added some white embroidery thread that I had tried to scrunch and knot randomly, and white Forget Me Not.
There is some gorgeous coloured wire in the D-Lish store at the moment. I have bought all of the colours! It is so easy to bend and I made this gorgeous "lovely" title for my page with the silver wire. I like to write out my title on paper first then you can easily bend the wire following the shape of your writing.

I also added a flower from the All That Glitters Just Add Paper kit, another white Forget Me Not, a white mini PVC doilie, and a charm from my stash..
Finally I added some KaiserCraft Mini Alphas and another white Forget Me Not.
